SEAHAWKS EMBASSY SUITES SPLASHDOWN SCULPTURE
I love to collaborate with other vendors and be a team player! This project was exciting to take on and I loved every minute of the process. Unified Cinematic Wedding Videography hired me to capture the photography for this event which we later edited and collaborated on the final edits to match a cohesive look for the project.
American Life Inc., Sodo Builders, and Greg Steinhauer (Construction Company) commissioned the sculpture, “SPLASHDOWN”. The task of creating the concept and actual sculpture was given to none other than Chester Fields. A professional sculptor for 34 years, Fields specializes in eagle statues that are staggering in size. During the time I photographed the installation of the amazing detailed piece, I got to know the artist, his vision, and all the stories and love he puts into his artwork. It was quite remarkable. I even asked for a selfie to remember him by.
The installation project started at 6 a.m. in front of the new Embassy Suites Building. The plan was to weld SPLASHDOWN before the afternoon. You could tell that a lot of sweat, blood, and tears went into “SPLASHDOWN” and therefore there were many moving parts throughout the morning to get the statue properly installed without damage. The best part was everyone was careful, communicative, and precise with their work. It was interesting to capture the welding and entire process. I hope to do more fun projects like this one, thanks for having me.
